This picture shows a smiling Mexican near the 'Big Ben'. This is Parliament Square in London. I requested the police officer to move away but he didn't move (just kidding). Anyway, it was a cloudy but sunny day. The temperature was just perfect and everything was great that day. My son and I wandered around London all day long until we had to go the stadium to see the Chelsea vs. Werden Bremen play in the Champions League.

I thought I'd find those missing names...

Hey! I'm here to update my blog adding those two last blogs' names, but I didn't find them where I told you to write them down. Again, remember all this is to help you. Don't make things difficult for you. There's no sure way to success but through hard work. Sorry, but that's the best thing to do if you want to reach your goals.
Anyway, remember your new assignment. You have to pick one of those three options in your book and write a paragraph, first you have to think about the topic sentence and then develop your paragraph to support your topic sentence. If it doesn't come up perfect don't worry but I need to see you're really trying, OK?!

Helloooo!!

How are y'all!
Hope you're doing great. It's Sunday and I wish I could have some rest but... that's just impossible. There's too much work and too much to do. Somebody told me once that only when I die I'll have the chance to rest.
Anyway, I haven't checked your blogs but I'll do that in a few more minutes. Hope to find good surprises.
I found another good way for you all to practice your English, you'll need your computer, internet connectivity and sound to listen. Check the link I've added, I bet you're going to like it.

Here I am... Again!

First of all, I want to say "I'm sorry" because I didn't have the chance to write for almost two weeks! But, here I am again. Due to technical difficulties I wasn't able to post any entries but the time has come just now when Valentine's day is around the corner. Are you all ready to celebrate such a magical day with your significant other? Don't be ashamed of showing your romantic side, there's nothing wrong with that.
Well, I want you all to remember that you have to write at least twice every week. As I've told you before you can write of anything you like. Just make sure you find something interesting to discuss and share with us and that's it!

An Ad-hoc Post

Hello everybody!
It's Sunday. I usually have very busy weekends, but this weekend has been more than busy because we started our Saturday language courses at the CELEX. Besides that, we also started a course for Saturday and Sunday and here I am, seeing that everything is fine on this weekend course. So I decided to write something and check your work.
I haven't started to ceck yet and before I do it I want it to post this funny note a friend in Nashville sent me. She's originally from Houston, TX, but is now living in Nashville, TN. That's the reason because being in Nashville she always sends me stuff that is related to Texas.
Anyway, hope you all are having a good weekend, though is a bit cold outside.

Cowboy's Ten Commandments posted on the wall at Cross Trails Church in Fairlie , Texas :

(1) Just one God.
(2) Honor yer Ma & Pa.
(3) No telling tales or gossipin'.
(4) Git yourself to Sunday meeting.
(5) Put nothin' before God.
(6) No foolin' around with another fellow's gal.
(7) No killin'.
(8) Watch yer mouth.
(9) Don't take what ain't yers.
(10) Don't be hankerin' for yer buddy's stuff.

Now that's kinda plain an' simple don'tcha think?

Check those links!

Hey everybody!
I've added some new links that I think are really useful, interesting and good to practice. Some include quizzes, some others just provide information and, again, my advice about reading comics to improve your English proficiency remains the same. Read those comics and write those words or expressions you're not familiar with so you can come to class and discuss them to make sure you know how to use them.

It's Tuesday!

Hello everybody!
It's so good to see how much you're working to get the blog thing going on. I can see you're having problems to get things in writing, but don't you worry, that's one of the aims of this activity. The saying goes 'no pain, no gain' and I know you're struggling to get your ideas written in your blogs. At the end I'm pretty sure you'll improve and you'll feel more confident because your level of proficiency concerning the writing skills will have improved. And, who knows... you might improve some other skills as well. This is what this is for, to help you in every aspect possible.
For next time I'll have to assign you a very specific number of words to write down. So, my advice is to write it down in a Word document, count the words and once you are sure about the number of words you'll copy them and paste them in the blog. Hope you're able to understand this instruction and if for some reason there's something you don't understand, don't hesitate to approach me and ask me personally.
Until next time...

Something to think about...

On the first day, God created the dog and said: 'Sit all day by the door of your house and bark at anyone who comes in or walks past. For this, I will give you a life span of twenty years. 'The dog said: 'That's a long time to be barking. How about only ten years and I'll give you back the other ten? 'So God agreed.
On the second day, God created the monkey and said: 'Entertain people, do tricks, and make them laugh. For this, I'll give you a twenty-year life span. 'The monkey said: 'Monkey tricks for twenty years? That's a pretty long time to perform. How about I give you back ten like the Dog did?' And God agreed.
On the third day, God created the cow and said: 'You must go into the field with the farmer all day long and suffer under the sun, have calves and give milk to support the farmer's family. For this, I will give you a life span of sixty years. 'The cow said: 'That's kind of a tough life you want me to live for sixty years. How about twenty and I'll give back the other forty?' And God agreed again.
On the fourth day, God created man and said: 'Eat, sleep, play, marry and enjoy your life. For this, I'll give you twenty years.' But man said: 'Only twenty years? Could you possibly give me my twenty, the forty the cow gave back, the ten the monkey gave back, and the ten The dog gave back; that makes eighty, okay?'
'Okay,' said God, 'You asked for it.' So that is why for our first twenty years we eat, sleep, play and enjoy ourselves. For the next forty years we slave in the sun to support our family. For the next ten years we do monkey tricks to entertain the grandchildren. And for the last ten years we sit on the front porch and bark at everyone.

Life has now been explained to you.

A Comic Strip

Here's a comic strip I downloaded from the net and it's just to show you it is possible to get them. There are plenty of them to suit every taste. Enjoy it.

How Do You Like the Picture!

Hey everybody! Here's the picture. Hope you like it because I do.
I suggest you again to take some time and surf the net in search of comic strips. There are some good sites to visit and look for comic strips. One of my favorites is Garfield and Calvin and Hobbs (I'm not sure if that's the right spelling) but anyway, whichever you want as long as you get ideas about the American culture and come to understand idioms and special words and phrases.
Remember to start your 'fraseolario' or collection of phrases. Try to identify those 'chunks' of words that go together and have a special meaning. Once you have identified them write them down. Feel free to come to class and ask the meaning and use of those phrases. If you don't do that you're depriving yourselves of the opportunity to learn more.
The task for you all is to select a comic strip and comment why you liked it and what was that you learned from that comic strip, this could be a cultural issue, a special word, or phrase or whatever you find interesting.
Ok? Go to work!

Our first experience together!

Here we are... I know this might sound odd but my students are eavesdropping while I am writing my first page in my blog. Actually, I'm trying to make them understand how this works. The reason being that they have to do the same that I'm doing now.
Yes, they have to start their own blog, each one of them. Why are we doing this? Because an idea popped in my head when I was thinking about freeing them of going to make a fool of themselves to the SAC. See? I think that the SAC has to be a place where everybody practices what they want not what they are told. So I came to the conclusion that doing this blogs activity would be more fruitful. Why? Well, because this way they would interact with each other including me! the teacher.
I think this will give us the opportunity to get to know each other better and also we'll have the chance to improve our proficiency with the English language.
All right... Hope you all have understood how to start this blogs activity.
That's it folks!... for now.
